23rd Annual Brookland Christmas Parade

The City of Brookland will have its 23rd annual Christmas parade on Sunday, December 1. The event will start at 2:00 p.m. There is NO registration or entry fee and first, second and third place plaques will be awarded in the following categories: float, horses, motorcycle/atv, antique/classic vehicle, antique tractor and “other/miscellaneous”. Judging will start promptly at 1:00 p.m. and the line up will be at the Brookland High School parking lot. The theme of the parade will be “Santa's Toyland”. Participants are allowed to throw candy. Brookland City offices wiill be closed on Monday, November 11 in observance of Veteran's Day. During this time, utility bill payments can be made by utilizing the night drop box at city hall, by phone (844)293-9814 or online at www.cityofbrookland.com.

Brookland Utilities is accepting applications for utility worker. Performs general maintenance of water and wastewater systems and various other public works duties. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, valid driver's license, pass background check and drug screening prior to employment. Work schedule is 4-10 hour days. 100% of family insurance is paid by the city. Must be able to be on call 24/7. No previous experience is required but is preferred. Wages will start at $15 per hour or based on experience. Licensed water/wastewater operators are welcome to apply. City of Brookland Street Department is seeking a General Laborer. Applicant must have a valid driver's license, high school diploma or equivalent and reliable transportation. Dump truck, excavator, skidsteer, tractor and/or other heavy equipment experience is a plus. Starting hourly pay is $15 per hours, but can be increased based on experience and equipment knowledge. Work schedule is 4-10 hour days. Benefits include 100% of family insurance is paid by the city, retirement and holidays off. Drug testing and physical examination is required.
