From the Mayor

Welcome to the City of Brookland! Since the building of the railroad in 1882, the Brookland community continues to grow and thrive. Our agricultural background coupled with an award winning school system and more recently being centrally located between two large medical facilities, puts our town in the spot light to attract families who want to live in an area with that "small town feel" where everyone still takes time to visit at the post office and wave as neighbors pass by. As your Mayor, I am committed to make sure that everything possible is being done to provide customer service to our residents and patrons.

In the City of Brookland, the Mayor has numerous duties. Managing everyday activities of city employees is the main responsibility of the Mayor.

The Mayor also keeps the city financially secure, and ensures that essential city services are maintained to a level that provides a good infrastructure as well as emergency assistance to our citizens. Brookland is a first class city, with a population of 4,064. The city government consists of the Mayor and six city council members, with 2 being elected from each of the 3 wards. The Mayor generates the City Council agenda and presides over its monthly meetings.

In addition to his administrative duties, the Mayor is our official representative. He spends time working with other local, state and federal officials representing the needs of the Brookland community and gaining support for various improvement projects.
